Wednesday Crafternoons at Pufferbellies

Every Wednesday from 3PM to 5PM we host a great new program called Crafternoons. It’s free and fun for kids of all ages. We do a fun craft or art project at our big play table, and bake up fresh cookies to share. Here are a couple videos of our most recent Crafternoon projects — we hope to see you soon!

Super-bouncy helium balls at Pufferbellies

This weekend, we brought in a special assistant (OK, my Dad) to help us test out two new bouncy balls. We pitted a $4.99 Galaxy Ball against a $7.99 Diamond Air Ball. Check the video to see the winner!

Crayon Rocks at Pufferbellies

Today we got a shipment of something very cool — Crayon Rocks. Our friend and customer Deanna told us about these — they’re chunky crayons made of soy wax that are perfect for developing the kind of fine motor control that kids need to write with pencils. They’re made in the USA, and are free of petroleum products. We like ’em! Take a look:

ASTRA Best Toys for Kids — Magna-Tiles

Between Labor Day and December 24th, we get asked one question more than any other: “Is gift-wrapping really free?!” (Answer: YES.) The question we’re asked second-most often is this: “What are the hot toys for Christmas this year?”

Well! I’m glad you asked. This the start of a series of video posts highlighting this year’s Best Toys for Kids, as voted on by members of ASTRA (that’s the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association). And we’re not talking about Tickle-Me-You-Know-Who, here. These are toys with lasting value. Toys that will hold your children’s interest well past Christmas morning. Toys that are sturdily made and will stand the test of time. Toys that kids love, and that grown-ups love to give them. The toys on the Best Toys list have been carefully chosen by owners of specialty toy stores all across the country — toy stores a lot like Pufferbellies. (Yep, we voted, too.) All the toys highlighted in our videos are available at our store in downtown Staunton, and we think they’re sure to be big hits with the kids in your life this holiday season.

So, without further ado, from the “Classic Play” category, we present … Magna-Tiles!
